Getting started: Racing with AMRA

Step 1: Basic Overview
- Reference the AMRA Competition Rulebook to get a sense for the various formats, classes and rules of competition
- In addition, you may attend one of our New Rider Open House days where AMRA representatives help explain this info to you and give you an idea of what to expect on race day
- Our online Riders Forum is another great resource where racers and AMRA representatives can meet and interact
Step 2: Determine Class and Division
- Determine which class and division best suits your ability and racing preference
- If you are unsure which class to run or if you are new to racing you can sign up in the Sportsman class and you can move up a class when ready
Step 3: AMRA Membership and bike number request
Step 4: Purchase AMRA Transponder
Step 5: Purchase AMA Membership (Big Bikes Only)
Step 6: Minor waiver (for riders under age of 18)
- All riders under the age of 18 MUST submit a minor waiver to AMRA per the instructions in the Waiver/Entry Forms section at the bottom of this page before they can race an AMRA event
Step 7: Pre-enter a race online
Step 8: Race day!
- Show up to the race site early to get signed in, to run your bike through tech inspection and to ask any other last minute questions
- Sign in can be overwhelming your first time through, but most everyone is helpful and were in your place at some point so don't be afraid to ask questions. We're here to help!
